What sump pump types are compatible with SmartSump?
SmartSump is compatible with all standard sump pumps — both pedestal and submersible types. It monitors water level without any direct connection to the pump itself.
How does SmartSump detect pump cycles?
SmartSump tracks water level over time to detect when your pump activates and deactivates. Each cycle — start time, duration, and water level change — is recorded automatically.
How is the sensor powered?
SmartSump connects to a standard USB-C power adapter (included). Placing it on the same circuit as your sump pump is ideal so you're alerted immediately if that circuit loses power.
What happens if my WiFi goes down?
SmartSump stores data locally and syncs when connectivity resumes. You will also receive a device-offline alert, so you know immediately if the connection is lost.
Is there a monthly fee?
SmartSump is free to use. No subscription is required for core monitoring and alerting. Advanced cloud history and analytics features may be offered as an optional upgrade in the future.
How do I set up push notifications?
Open the SmartSump app, go to Settings → Alerts, and enable browser notifications. You can set thresholds for water level, missed pump cycles, and device-offline events independently.
Can I monitor multiple devices?
Yes. The SmartSump app supports multiple devices on one account. Each appears as a separate card in the dashboard with its own alert thresholds and history.
How do I reset the device to factory settings?
Hold the reset button on the device for 10 seconds until the status light flashes amber three times. The device will restart in provisioning mode and can be re-paired via the app.
